Who doesn't love a mason jar these days?  Pretty much a staple in any country chic wedding, these beauties can be used for vases, table numbers, drinking vessels, etc.  They remind me of my grandma - one of the things she is known for is her homemade jelly, which she stores in small pint mason jars.  Who knew they'd go from a canning tool to popular event decoration!  I'm all for it - they're so precious and dainty looking.  Just adorable with pastel flowers!

little idea, big dreams...and some milk glass

Welcome to my new blog & website for Nickle & Dime Events.  This "project" has been in my head for a long time & has taken on many different shapes and sizes.  I've got a very lofty long term vision, but have struggled to determine where & how to start.

Long term dream: event planning for the thrifty, budget conscious couple - pairing small, new, but talented businesses with chic brides....and putting a vintage-country vibe on the whole thing.  I told you it was lofty...especially considering I'd like to keep doing photography, maintain a day job, and possibly start a family sometime soon.

Then one day while shopping at one of my favorite thrift stores it hit me - vintage rentals.  It combines some of my lifetime loves: thrifting/"popping tags" (thank you Macklemore for making my longtime hobby acceptable), decor & weddings....perfect!  Added bonus: my mother is retired & always looking for an excuse to shop, I couldn't ask for a better partner in crime - she knows where EVERY thrift store is in the metro area, and she frequents them often....I'm my mother's daughter, hands down.

We're starting with Milk Glass.  Why you ask?  Because it's one of my OBSESSIONS.  I'm in LOVE with this stuff - I've bought so many for my own house that it's starting to look ridiculous.  It's perfect for vintage, cottage-chic wedding centerpieces.  Random. White. Delicate. Beautiful.  We have around 80 pieces now, and will be aggressively growing that collection over the next few weeks, months, you get the idea.
